When was the last time you took care of yourself, getting a lift, because you made a donation to a charity?
What do you know about women philanthropists? I hadn’t given the matter any thought until I read this Wall Street Journal blog today, http://blogs.wsj.com/wallet/2009/05/15/women-are-storming-charities/.
The Boston Globe writes about a study on women and giving, http://www.boston.com/business/ticker/2009/05/fidelity_study_1.html.
Doesn’t it feel good to support an organization that you believe in?
Catherine–
It definitely feels fantastic to support organizations that you believe in…so important to give back to the world…but we often get caught in the idea of “should” contribute.
When we are donating…either our time or our money…we (and the organizations) deserve to be 100% behind the cause. Rather than giving out of “should” when we give out of love our efforts are multiplied by the universe.
The good feelings we have when we donate out of love are sent out and others feel the energy and are inspired to give to organizations that they believe in, too!
Laurie,
Well said!
Giving because you feel like you ‘should’ give is okay.
I’ve found giving out of love is more fun, more valued by the receiver and attracts more giving.
Read Laurie’s excellent blog post, http://theuniverselikesspeed.blogspot.com/2009/05/give-to-others-from-love-not-obligation.html.
